#32025 , Holland & Holland Royal, hand detachable sidelock , ejector , 500/465 NE. Delivered to Charles P Graves III of Park Avenue , New York in March of 1929.
Chopper lump barrels 26” long, with ¼ rib .Express sight with a forward standing leaf to accommodate older eyes. Claw bases installed by me at the request of the previous owner. They are fitted with a Swarowski Z6i 1-6 X24 illuminated reticule#9. Front sight has a hood and a flip up moon sight.
The rifle has all the finishing touches that make a best rifle; third fastener , bushed firing pins, articulated front trigger, extended top strap, trap door grip cap , gold escutcheon.
It weighs 11 pounds 9 Oz with a mercury recoil reducer (10 Oz), with the scope mounted 12 pound 12 Oz. Dimensions are 14 7/8” LOP over a 1 ¼ “ orange deccelerator pad, drop is 1 ½” and 2 ¼” , cast off is ½”. For me the rifle points perfectly.
The overall condition is excellent with 95% blacking, 90% case color hardening. Wood is not oil soaked, nice and tight on the action and forend iron . It has a few hunting marks , but the finish and the checkering will still grade at 95%. The bores are like new. Ejectors are strong and timed , so are the locks . Trigger pulls are exactly what you would expect from a Royal , braking cleanly at 4 ¼# and 4 ½#. Bolting is as tight as the day it left the 98 New Bond street shop.
In the maker oak and leather case with accessories and dust cover, all of them in the same great condition than the rifle.
This can be a vault queen, or your companion for a life time of Africa hunting. The rifle is well sorted out, and the changes made along the years make it only more practical in the field.
